Level 7 Diploma In Healthcare Management

ATHE (The Management Awarding Body) is an awarding body that specializes in offering courses at both Undergraduate and Postgraduate level in Management, Healthcare Management and Travel and Tourism Management. ATHE is regulated by Ofqual, and students can progress onto various UK University programmes on completing any qualification. ATHE’s level 7 qualifications in Healthcare Management provide generic management skills for those planning to or working in the healthcare sector with additional units that are specifically targeted at those working in the public sector.

Course Objectives

The qualification aims to deliver the skills and knowledge that meet the needs of managers wishing to work in the Healthcare sector. The programme is a mixture of health services management and general management. It also enables health professionals to obtain the required skills to manage health care services in the ever dynamic business environments.

Entry Requirements

Entry Requirements

All Level 7 students are required to be at least 21 years of age. In addition, they are required to have the following:

  • A CERTIFIED copy of a UK Bachelor’s Degree, or a similar equivalent of a Level 6 qualification. (OR)
    An equivalent of a Level 5 qualification with 3 years work experience
  • Mature students over 21 years do not have to have these requirements but should have suitable work experience of no less than 2 years.
  • A CERTIFIED copy of all Academic Transcripts

English Language Proficiency :

For students whose first language is not English, they should have an English Language Test from the UKVI approved test provider, and have achieved at least CEFR Level B2 in all four components (reading, writing, speaking and listening).

Course Progression Routes

On successful completion of a Level 7 qualification in Healthcare Management there are a number of progression opportunities.

  • larger qualifications at the same level eg. from an award to a certificate or to the Diploma in Strategic Management or the Diploma in Healthcare Management
  • An MBA programme and claim exemptions for some of the units completed .

Exemption Policies

The Qualifications and Credit framework is based on the principle of credit accumulation and transfer. Within this suite of qualifications, learners have the opportunity to build their achievements from a single unit into a full Diploma. There will be occasions where learners wish to claim recognition of prior learning which has not been formally assessed and accredited. Centres should contact ATHE to discuss the requirements for RPL.

The ABE Level 7 Diploma in Business Management (QCF) offers students enhanced career prospects as well as the opportunity to progress to Masters degree programmes at numerous universities worldwide.

This Level 7 qualification has been developed by senior university professors, utilising current academic learning and research, as well as employer knowledge and practice. It is therefore an ideal progression route for those who:

  • are currently studying professional qualifications and wish to proceed to a Masters degree in business/management
  • have a related Honours degree but wish to proceed to a Masters level business/management qualification
  • are in employment at managerial level and wish to achieve a Masters level qualification Students may take the programme independently (private self-study), or through a college which has been accredited by ABE to deliver the Level 7 Diploma in Business Management.

This qualification aims to help students to develop a strategic understanding of management in the context of general business.

Assessment : Assessment is by assignment apart from the Strategic Business Management and Planning unit which is assessed by examination.

Edexcel BTEC Level 7 Extended Diploma in Strategic Management and Leadership

Course Objectives

Edexcel BTEC at level 7 is designed to provide focused learning, with a strong emphasis on practical skills development alongside the acquisition of requisite knowledge and understanding of the business sector. This programme is particularly suitable for mature learners. BTEC Level 7 Extended Diploma in Strategic Management and Leadership is awarded after earning 120 credits at level 7.

Entry Requirements

All Level 7 students are required to be at least 21 years of age. In addition, they are required to have the following:

  • A CERTIFIED copy of a UK Bachelor’s Degree, or a similar equivalent of a Level 6 qualification. (OR)
    An equivalent of a Level 5 qualification with 3 years work experience
  • Mature students over 21 years do not have to have these requirements but should have suitable work experience of no less than 5 years.
  • A CERTIFIED copy of all Academic Transcripts

English Language Proficiency :

For students whose first language is not English, they should have an English Language Test from the UK Border Agency approved test provider, and have achieved at least CEFR Level B2 in all four components (reading, writing, speaking and listening). IELTS 6.5, with a minimum of 6.5 being awarded on individual sections.
